Air Compressors - Maintaining And Caring For Them
If you own an Air Compressor you will need to know how to take care of it, and provide regular and proper maintenance. Among other things you will need to make sure that there is a proper supply of air going to the compressor.
An air compressor needs care and maintenance to continue to function properly. As a minimum you should do the following:
On a day to day basis:
Drain all moisture and fluid from the tank. You need to bleed air pressure out first, and then open the valves to let the moisture drain out.
On a weekly basis:
Remove obstructions and debri from the air intake vents. Air filters will need to be cleansed on a weekly basis too.
Replace the air filters every week.
On a monthly basis:
Does the safety release valve work correctly? Make sure there are no leaks when the safety release valve is closed. Check all electrical points and hoses for signs of wear and tear or damage.
On a yearly basis:
Do the gauges have the correct readings? Is anything leaking? Do the connectors need to be tightened at all? Check the whole machine thoroughly for leaks and damage.
Maintaining air compressor oil:
The oil will need to be checked regularly, and changed in accordance with the compressors instruction/care booklet. Don't forget to clean the filters every week.
