Setting the Air Compressor Switch

It is always a wise idea to set the cut-in as well as the cut-out pressure.

Cut in pressure - this is the basic pressure level within which the compressor starts

Cut-out pressure - this is the basic pressure level which the compressor stops at when it has been surpassed. This pressure level is always higher than the cut-in pressure.

The best pressure level for any compressor, whether large or small, is always low. However, the applications of the air compressor help to determine the ideal pressure level. For instance, the standard pressure setting for most compressors when they come from the manufacturers is seven bars. However, you can always make it as low as five or six bars. This will also help reduce the amount of energy consumption because of the higher the pressure level, the higher the energy consumption.

Adjusting and Resetting the Pressure Switch

The mode of resetting and adjusting the air compressor pressure switch differs from one model to another. However, in most models, the only way to change the pressure settings is by using a fixed differential. These models have a single screw used for configuration. In some models, both the differential and the pressure setting are subject to adjust. Such models, like the condor pressure switch, have an additional set screw. The standard differential usually lies between 0.8 bars and one bar (generally stated on the housing).

Once you have mastered the standard differentials and the position of the set screws, you can adjust the cut-in and the cut-out pressures. Typically, the cut-in pressure is set using the big screw, and the small one is for the cut-out pressure.
